JourneyWoman is expanding its editorial content with a new series of engaging “She Travels” ebooks, written and curated by its professional travel writers on topics including solo travel, slow travel, safety and packing, designed for the woman over 50 traveller. Each book is available for $3.99 USD/CAD on the JourneyWoman website and will help support JourneyWoman’s editorial, with proceeds going to non-profit organizations JourneyWoman supports, including Ally Foundation (prevention of human trafficking) and The Period Purse (providing menstrual products for those in need).
“For years, our readers have been asking for resources that curate our 30+-year archive of practical advice and help them travel safely and well,” says Carolyn Ray, CEO, JourneyWoman. “We recognize that women over 50 have their own needs, so these ebooks are based on our own personal experiences as mature women, and include recommendations from JourneyWoman readers, so you know that the advice is trustworthy and credible. We’ve even used our own photographs from our own travels in these books, showing that we’ve been there, done that.”
The first four books in the series offer practical advice, first-hand recommendations and checklists to help women travel safely and well.
- “How Women Can Get Started in Solo Travel” by author and travel writer Kathy Buckworth is for women travelling solo for the first time, to a new place for the first time, or just considering the possibility of it. It is also a valuable resource for those who have travelled solo in the past, but want a handy guide for their next solo trip to make planning easier and safer.
- “The Complete Guide to Women’s Solo Travel Safety” by author and travel writer Carolyn Ray provides information on having a safety mindset, cybersecurity and digital privacy, personal safety, self-defence, and finding places to stay. This ebook also includes tips from JourneyWoman readers and a Women’s Safety Checklist, making it the perfect companion to JourneyWoman’s Cybersecurity Course with Paige Hanson.
- “How Women Can Embrace Slow Travel” by author and travel writer Jules Torti and Carolyn Ray provides women with tips to adopt a slow travel mindset and a more cultural and responsible approach to visiting a destination, with a thoughtful pace and meaningful interactions with community members. Sections feature where to go, where to stay, options to save money, and a slow travel checklist for longer stays.
- “The Ultimate Packing Guide for Women Over 50” by author and writer Carolyn Ray includes practical tips for older women and prioritizes comfort and repurposing existing items, rather than shopping for new things. It includes advice for longer trips, mobility needs, electronics, safety and a checklist for short and long stays,
More books from the perspective of women over 50 are in the works, including accessible travel, sustainable travel and more.
